Gas Safety

Gas safety awareness is essential to protect our safety as well as the safety of others around us. If you smell gas, think you have a gas leak, or are worried that fumes containing carbon monoxide are escaping from a gas appliance – you should: Call the National Grid - free 24 hour emergency line on 0800 111 999 immediately. They will send an engineer to check the gas supply. You will not be charged for this service. You should also:
  • Turn off the supply at the control valve
  • Open doors and windows to ventilate the property
  • Do not use naked flames
  • Do not switch electric light or power switches on or off
  • Do not smoke
  • Make sure there is access to the property

  • Make sure that carbon monoxide and fire alarms are fitted and regularly tested.
